Made one of these overly long-eared mites for pretty Miss Mae Kelly.
If she likes it maybe I’ll make her some more friends. Whoop.

Thanks to George for the photoshoot. x

I like food with faces in the Japanese style very much. Anything with faces. And also i think moustaches are good for food. But this guy isn’t Japanese, he’s French.
He took quite a while as all his gherkiny bobbles were French knotted on and i made him authentically stripey skinned. Et voila! Le cornichon.
I am also pleased to announce that my friends Nick and Rob of the Pleasure Bus Tour fame have succeeded in selling Monsieur Cornichon to some kindly being who was charmed by his reckless pickly good looks.
Thanks Pleasure Bus Tour and santé to Monsieur Cornichon in his new life.
Here we are visiting the Pleasure Bus in Brighton – cheers to Rob and Nick for a lovely and pleasing afternoon. Bees’ knees!
On Christmas Day I could hardly be bothered to eat dinner because I wanted to make FLY!
Fly is rubbish but I learnt many things from his making.
First of all he was inspired by some Richard Scarry characters. Another hero: the first hand-made felt toys I ever had were Richard Scarry characters my mum made me.
So I learnt that if you want to make something simple, you have to make it simple. I did not make it simple. Fly has 6 legs that I had to stuff and sew together before sewing into the main body. It was confusing for me.
And you have to make sure your bits of felt are big enough. He was made from craft squares that were very limiting. His jumper doesn’t meet at the edges. And his wings weren’t stuffed enough so they’re all floppy.
He’s quite endearing in the end though.
I like writing this knowing nobody reads it. Ehehehe. Poop!
Here we are, together, late on Christmas Day.
If you haven’t read the Moomin books by Tove Jansson then you’re really silly. They’re not just for kids, Moomins. Sweet, funny, haunting, brave, adventurous, melancholy and philosophical: there’s nothing that’s not good about the Moomins.
So I’m making some finger puppets so that people can act out their own hand-sized Moomin adventures. Starting with the Hattifatteners.

Watch out for the Groke!
I got my first sewing machine. Her name is Millicent. Alright! And Bert’s birthday was coming so decided it was his turn to receive a puppet/toy/softie. I drew a kind of tree creature. And then I made it. First time i’d ever used Millicent so was a bit of a kamekaze operation but all went ok.
It’s a bit crazy but unique.
The Start:

Finished late in bed. So tired but pleased.

Once there was a Frenchman. He had curly hair and a skill for making two-sided felt monsters, which he dished out to his monsterless friends.
Meet Bertrand and his puppets/art toys:

He made one of these (with a massive, lurid green tongue) pour ma petite niéce, Geneviéve. And he asked me to decorate a bag for Viéve’s bright new friend. Comment joyeux!
So I made some little dudes. I think they’d make good finger puppets too, but they are small fries compared to Bertranadon’s monsters.

Together!
